Joyce Edwards As Research Director for Millbrook Partners, Joyce is responsible for structuring and managing all research, driving the candidate development process and gathering and evaluating market intelligence. Her core competencies embrace search strategy, prospect identification, candidate screening and development and reference reporting.  She has successfully managed the entire search research process for both search firm and corporate clients, and, in the process, has added to her reputation for deep research capabilities and a commitment to quality.  And, like a true search consultant (and unlike many executive search researchers), Ms. Edwards is capable of managing the client relationship, positioning the candidate field and bringing the search to a successful conclusion.

She joined the field of executive search in 1991, a strategic career move engineered to leverage her Fortune 100 human resources background (3M and IDS Financial Services, now a division of American Express) and business start-up experience.  A generalist at heart, she has tackled searches across industries and functions, and is at her best on the “challenging” search.  She has recruited on behalf of blue chip companies, including The General Electric Company and McKinsey & Co. Her recent work has focused on start-ups and emerging growth companies in the e-business space.  A particular industry strength is management consulting, where she has recruited both strategy and information technology consulting practice leaders for two of the world’s leading strategy consulting firms.  Additional areas of interest include competitive intelligence, knowledge management and international search.

As a complement to her research activities, Ms. Edwards conducts training on the use of the Internet in search.  She is committed to advancing the professionalism of the search research function, and led a number of initiatives for the Executive Search Roundtable in past years.

Ms. Edwards completed all coursework for the Master’s of Arts degree in Industrial Relations/Human Resource Management from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with high distinction from a top Midwest liberal arts college.
